For this character design project at IDEA Academy, I had to choose characters from an existing story. I chose the Swedish children’s book series Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren. Inspired by the illustrations of French illustrator Serge Bloch and manga artist Osamu Tezuka, I gave Pippi, her pet monkey Mr Nilsson and their friends Tommi and Annika innocent, colorful and lively designs.
